Scotland's largest offshore wind farm completes onshore wiring

   Scotland's largest offshore wind farm has passed another major milestone with the successful installation of 19km of onshore cable in each of its three power circuits from the Carnoustie landing to a new substation currently under construction in Tealing, near Dundee.

   Seagreen's onshore project manager Steven Reid said: "This is a huge engineering feat, including the installation of 117 separate cables along the route, involving crossing the East Coast Main Line, the A90 and A92, and minimising disruption to the Carnoustie and Panmure golf courses. influences."

    This is a key activity for the Seagreen project in preparation for the first electricity exports this summer, and we are now in the final stages of restoring and replanting land affected by the cable lines, which will continue until the end of the year. With the support of our contractors Nexans and Linxon, we are also donating some cable reels to local schools in Carnoustie, Murroes and Tealing, which will be used on each school's playground.

     Landing at Carnoustie was completed earlier this year, and since then the project has also successfully completed the second of three cable pulls at the landing to support the connection of the offshore cable to the onshore cable. The Seagreen wind farm, a joint venture between SSE Renewables and TotalEnergies, is currently under construction about 27km off the Angus coastline.

     Once operational, the site will be Scotland's largest and the world's deepest fixed-bottom offshore wind farm, providing enough clean electricity for around two-thirds of Scotland's homes.
